"This work deals with design of universal, flexible platform based on PC/104 standard. The design is mainly aimed to motion control applications. It can control up to four actuators equipped by IRC sensors. Programmable logic device Xilinx FPGA was selected as the core of the module. The module includes CAN and PROFIBUS communication interfaces for connection of additional sensors and subordinate actuators. A soft-processor can be implemented by FPGA and then the module can work even without main PC/104 system CPU. Designed solution allows reconfigure FPGA at run-time by main PC/104 CPU, therefore control algorithms can be changed to reach optimal regulation. We intend to adapt and use Real-Time Workshop target for RT-Linux for designed platform. This enables to port quickly algorithms developed by control theory experts to the platform." . . .
