"This contribution describes a method for creating visualization of biomass fired boiler at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, Department of Power Engineering. The biomass fired boiler is a common boiler equipped with additional instrumentation allowing to measure necessary combustion process information. We created the visualizations and control interface for boiler control to allow its easier control. The visualization and control interface is created in the software Wondervare InTouch, which is one of the most popular SCADA/HMI software worldwide. For experimental purposes, the boiler control algorithm is divided into two parts, the first one runs in the programmable controller WinCon, the second one runs in the environment Simulink of program Matlab. So, we need not only WinCon to be connected to the control interface, also Simulink needs to be connected to it. One way for communication between the devices is the widely used communication standard OPC. Another way is to establish a connection using a standard DDE, which is used for dynamic data exchange between applications on one computer. Both ways are compared in the contribution." .
