One of the methods for measuring the PWV is an optical method. A high speed camera records the displacements of the vessel wall loaded by a pulsatile flow and the propagation of the equal displacement values is evaluated. However, the shape and elastic properties of the biological specimen vary along the axis of the tube; therefore the PWV is not constant. To detect the local changes of the PWV, high space and time resolution is needed.
