"Airborne laser scanning (ALS) is a very progressive non-selective method for collecting spatial data from large areas. The result of laser scanning technique is a point cloud. In the years 2010-2013 was ALS of the whole Czech Republic (CR) under the auspices of the Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (COSMC). It was found that the recorded data COSMC have frequent local dilution of point cloud. These local dilution to form very small areas where they are almost no points. Uniformity of point cloud is one of the most important prerequisites for the success of automatic contour detection of buildings. The goal of this conference paper is to verify the possibility of thickening the ALS data using automatic image correlation of digital aerial photographs that COSMC takes in regular two-year intervals from the whole area of the Czech Republic for the purposes of making a seamless orthophoto mosaic. The output of the automatic image correlation is also a point cloud. It is possible to use it to thicken ALS data. Both methods are based on completely different technologies, which brings many specifics and complications, which will be described in detail in this work. The detected contours of buildings are important for the update and verification of the Fundamental Base of Geographic Data and could also be used to check and removal errors that has accumulated over time in the cadastre."@en .
