"Twintrack running tunnel of the track turnover behind the Motol station is the part of section 09 Station Motol of the Prague metro extension project. Section is situated between station's construction pit and construction pit intended for the ventilation house. Both the twintrack tunnel and station Motol are situated in the area of Prague fault. Geological conditions of the Motol area are quite complicated. Frequent changes of different strata, theirs weathering and disruption by the faults were the major conditions for the tunnel execution along with significant impact of water head level. The tunnel has been originally considered as NATM tunnel along the whole length. The alignment in the close vicinity of the station Motol along with sloping region and found geological conditions led the Investor to the decision of changing the technology of the part of the tunnel. Originally 400m long NATM tunnel has been divided into 2 parts with approximately equal lengths. NATM section and 20m deep cut & cover section.Geological and hydrogeological conditions have been rapidly changing during the excavation of the NATM tunnel against the originally accepted assumptions." . .
