"Among growing demands of energy saving in housing it is unimaginable to raise a building without thermal insulation of facades. This insulation is primarily installed on the exterior side and it could be either with an airing gap or covered with plaster. The second alternative is called ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System). This report focuses on characteristics of one of the less used thermal insulations \u2013 wooden fibre (WF). Characteristics of the material are compared with characteristics of the most used materials \u2013 e.g. mineral wool (MW) and expanded polystyrene (EPS). Materials with good thermal insulation characteristics are very often worse in other views, for example fire safety. The report is therefore particularly aiming at this field of study and, except thermal insulation and acoustics, compares fire safety characteristics, such as flash point, fire point etc. Specifically, the report compares heat release rates of materials and its significance during reaction-to-fire classification."@en .
