"This paper presents the part of the German methodology HBS, which deals with pedestrian influence on the capacity of roundabout entrances and the results of its application on roundabouts in the Czech Republic. In the Czech Republic there were issued a new technical rules for calculating the capacity of the roundabouts that do not reflect the HBS methodology. The purpose of this paper is to introduce readers the results of applying the HBS methodology on a 20-roundabouts in the Czech Republic, where was carried out a total of 31 measurements. The obtained results of surveys indicate the necessity of calibration of the German methodology in case of application on Czech transport conditions. There were measured different values of the impact of pedestrians on capacity roundabouts than in the German HBS methodology. Deviations from the HBS have been identified both positive and negative. The surveys showed a significant lack of German methods - not including the effect of intensity approaching vehicles at the entrance of the roundabout. The calibration of the HBS methodology is subject to author\u00B4s dissertation, which will be submitted in early 2013. Because of the identified facts from surveys it can be expected to design a completely new methodology reflecting the influence of pedestrians crossing at the entrance to the roundabout."@en .
