"Knowledge of infiltration capacity of soils is necessary for solving projects in water management, environmental protection or agriculture. Infiltration capacity of a soil is predetermined by the hydraulic properties of the soil. One of basic hydraulic properties of the soil is a hydraulic conductivity function. Hydraulic conductivity can be determined by a tension infiltration method in the field by using the tension infiltrometer. Usually cumulative infiltration from the tension infiltrometer to the soil is measured manualy by reading the drop in water level in reservoir of the infiltrometer. It is advantageous to automate this measurement to increase efficiency and improve the accuracy of the measurement. New design of automatic infiltration tension module has been developed at the Department of Irrigation, Drainage and Landscape Engineering, Faculty of civil engineering, CTU in Prague. The new infiltration tension module senses the water level in reservoir by the immovable float attached to the load cell.
