"Road network requiring repetitive rehabilitation increases the demand on economically acceptable renovation techniques, which should allow or support reuse of materials from existing pavements with minimum disruption on traffic. In this connection especially the group of cold recycling techniques has so far been effective. The principles of the technique offer possibilities for further alternative variants, which would allow utilization of another by-products or waste materials. Fluid fly-ash is one of these possibilities and might be used as alternative binder or filler for pavement structural layers where cold recycling is applied. Within the performed experimental designs the optimum content of fly-ash as well as the impact of this material in the cold recycling mix on selected properties (especially voids content, indirect tensile strength, water susceptibility and frost susceptibility) were assessed. At the same time some alternative procedures for quality characteristics were evaluated (e.g. assessment of ITS decrease after 14 days curing vs. modified ITSR based on 14 days strength values, assessment of ITM ratio based on stiffness testing)."@en .
