"The quality of geodetic measurements is constantly threatened by the action of errors of surveying instruments and surveyors. These errors lead to contamination of measurements with outliers and to violation of primary assumption of the probability distribution of the geodetic data. Getting acquainted with robust statistical methods, whose sensitivity to the condition of normality of geodetic data is not as crucial as for method of least squares. For this reason, these methods can be used in processing (adjustment) of real geodetic data.
