"The spatiotemporal heterogeneity of soil moisture distribution in a soil profile causes significant uncertainties in modeling predictions. Particularly important is the effect of inaccurately determined soil moisture condition. Especially for infiltration experiments involving soils exhibiting preferential flow phenomenon. So far it is very difficult to describe the irregularities of soil moisture distribution and soil moisture propagation during infiltration in bigger scales by means of non destructive techniques. To %22guess%22 the moisture distribution below the area of infiltration we propose a combination of noninvasive monitoring with numerical simulations with inversely optimized parameters, which are difficult to obtain by measurements.
