"The aim of this ongoing research is to investigate the influence of entrapped air on nitrate leaching through the soils. Undisturbed soil cores were collected in the experimental catchments Liz (\u0160umava Mts.) and Uhl\u00ED\u0159sk\u00E1 (Jizera Mts.). The reference sample was packed by fine sand. Infiltration-outflow experiments were conducted. The initial water contents in sample were different for each infiltration. Constant pressure head was maintained at the upper surface of soil cores during the experiments. The breakthrough curves of nitrate were determined during the quasi-steady state flow. Nitrate was applied as a concentration pulse at the top of soil cores. Nitrate concentration in the effluent was measured continually by ion-selective electrode. The preliminary results show significant differences in nitrate leaching during steady state flow for experiments done with different initial water content of the soil column."@en . "3"^^ .
