The bulk density, total open porosity, saturation moisture content, moisture diffusivity, water vapor diffusion coefficient, adsorption isotherm and water retention curve are measured. Experimental results prove the mostly favorable water and salt transport and storage properties of the studied material that can be attributed mainly to its open pore structure and to its negligible amount of small pores. As a consequence, a risk of damage due to salt crystallization and due to ice formation is low for this material.
