"The matter of an invention is a compound KLuS2:Eu2+, which is doped by Eu in the 0.0001 % mol. - 3 % mol concentration interval. The compound KLuS2:Eu2+ was prepared by chemical reaction of K2CO3, Lu2O3 and Eu2O3 under a flow of hydrogen sulfide. Phase purity of prepared compounds was verified by X-ray powder diffraction. After exposure to X-ray, KLuS2:Eu2+ exhibits an intense emission at about 520 nm, and therefore KLuS2:Eu2+ can be used for detection an ionizing radiation by the semiconductor detectors. KLuS2:Eu2+ is usable as a material for construction of white light sources excited by LED between 400 and 440 nm as well, because KLuS2:Eu2+ has an intensive excitation band at near UV and blue spectral region, and under this excitation, KLuS2:Eu2+ shows an intensive broad emission with maximum at 520 nm."@en .
