"The rearing possibilities of zander (Sander lucioperca) larvae and juveniles under controlled conditions are summarized. Rearing of zander larvae is very problematic, major limited factors are: small initial size of larvae (total length 5.0-5.5 mm and weight 0.3-0.5 mg), very small mouth, problematic swimm bladder inflation and a need of feeding live feed, because the digestive system is not fully functional. Lots of literature information exists about technology of weaning of advanced zander fry from natural diet to formulated feed. There are several methods of weaning: direct converting to formulated feed, co-feeding with natural feed (Chironomus sp., Tubifex spp., minced fish) and converting with semi-moist feeding mixture on the base of fish. Optimum temperature for weaning and rearing of zander fry fluctuate in the range 22-24\u00B0C. Initial stocking density for converting does not influence statistical significant parameters of survival and growth."@en . . .
