"Mobbing (or workplace bullying) refers to persistent hostile communication directed at one or more individuals who have difficulty defending themselves, leading to the victimization of these individuals. Based on analysis of 37 narrative interviews with bullied workers (mostly academics), the author shows that targets of workplace bullying are often employees who have recently entered the labour market. These employees are particularly vulnerable to being bullied due to their low position in organizational hierarchy, their lack of experiences and social contacts within the organization, and their lack of knowledge of organizational culture. The author further shows that mobbing can initiate significant changes in the target\u2019s work trajectory. Attention is paid to the ways in which mobbing effects target\u2019s work trajectories with the intersections of gender, age, sexuality, position in the life-cycle, and other social categories."@en .
