Jespersepen that semantics based on truth condition cannot be hyperintensional, and hence must be replaced by semantics based on the concepts of structure and procedure. It argues that semantics cannot ultimately rest on anything else than on truth conditions; and that hyperintensionality of semantics stems from the fact that the meaning of a sentence is not amatter of merely its truth conditions, but also of the truh conditions of the sentences which contain it (especially propositional attitude reports). It further argues that however useful are structures and procedures for hyperintensional semantics as tools, if we base this semantics directly on them (as the transparent intensional logic does), we must face grave obstacles."@en .
