Only objective approach of reliable sex determination is the utilisation of discriminant functions (DF) of pelvic bones. Unfortunately, the pelvic bones are frequently damaged or absent and the DF of skulls, mandibles and long bones showed its population specificity. A new strategy (approach) based on primary and secondary diagnosis was proposed. The primary diagnosis is made on pelvic bones because its form and magnitude are results of the adaptation to two major constraints \u016F locomotion and parturition. These constraints are common for all human populations and it is possible to define the same level of sexual dimorphism even for ancient populations of Homo sapiens.
