"Experimental data are provided for the rate of attrition of lime particles in a fluidized bed reactor operated batchwise at 850oC. The influences of operating time (the elapsed time of fluidization / attrition), superficial gas velocity, and particle size were investigated with lime originated from a high-grade dolomitic limestone. A simple empirical model is presented which makes it possible to describe the rate of attrition (caused by abrasion) decaying exponentially with time. The attrition of particles is viewed as a complex interplay between the hydrodynamic forces in the bed and the mechanical strength of the bed material."@en . . . . . "3"^^ .
