The problem of standard sensing using a resistive divider is that it is not electrically isolated from the mains voltage power supply circuits. This fact puts high demands on the power supply of the electronic and unnecessarily complicates the evaluation circuits. By its very nature it is an optocoupler powered directly from the AC voltage measured using a resistive divider. LED optocoupler is driven by the rhythm of the mains voltage and output phototransistor is opened just this rhythm. The device is very simple and is able to transfer only one half mains voltage, which is sufficient for our goals."@en .
