"The purpose of this study is processing of a marketing study on the development of trends in the area of geographical information systems (GIS). The first part of the study is aimed at the description and analysis of trends of development in the area of GIS. On the basis of the research analysis of available Czech and foreign sources according to the set key words, the authors obtained information that was later synthesized. The selected trends were provided with their indicators which enabled to follow the direction and rate of development of the given trend also in future. In this way, it will be possible to assess whether the given trend has changed or lost its intensity in the course of time. The second part of the study, which is based on the results of the first part, analyzes a potential application of the selected products and services in the area of GIS on the market. The products and services include software and data production for GIS, i.e. what makes the base of this area. The aim of this part is to evaluate a potential application of these products and services in different markets on the basis of the development of the geo-information technologies defined in the first part of the study. The market areas were divided into two main groups. The first group includes the markets of such market segments where nowadays software and data production for GIS have a use. The second group consists of the studies of the market area which are not included in the first group and where, on the basis of findings, the potential application can be expected."@en .
