"Ten bovine microsatellites were evaluated for use in parentage testing in 319 individues from two different populations of Holstein breed. The number of alleles per locus ranged from five to twelve. On average, expected heterozygosity, polymorphism information content (PIC) and probabilitiy of exclusion values were slighty lower in file 1 than in file 2. This ten from eleven kit loci were refined to produced a set of multiplexed markers suitable for rutine parentage testing.
