"The aim of breeding of pigs is an achievement of the best production and reproduction traits. It can be achieve not only by selection, but also using molecular-genetic methods using utilizing QTLs and candidate genes. QTLs (Quantitative Trait Loci) can be identified on the basis of their binding with genetic markers (of type II), or they are genetic markers of type I. The basic property of the genetic marker is its polymorphism. As candidate genes are called genetic markers, in which we assume and verify significant influence on production traits. Recently, a great amount of polymorphism of candidate genes influencing mass efficiency and reproduction of pigs, is described.
