"Using the genetic pool of the Department of Breeding and Propagation of Horticultural Plants of the Faculty of Horticulture, Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, experimental plots with less common species were established in Lednice. Almost 30 varieties and genotypes of quince (Cydonia oblonga Mill.) were planted in two stages. We evaluated the growth and harvest data, storage life, nutritional value of the fruit and pomological characteristics. In terms of growth the variety Hemus had the largest crown volume, i.e. 5.70 m3. The varieties Triumph and \u00DAsp\u011Bch had the most prospective shape of the crown. The variety Blan\u00E1r achieved the highest cumulative harvest over 3 periods of harvest, i.e. 85,390 g. The storage life of the fruit was affected by the weather conditions prior to harvest; to a large extent the fruit is susceptible to monilia blight.
