"The negative impact of game on forest ecosystems is above all caused by hoofed game consumption of vegetation. In localities where game puts extreme selection pressure on phytocoenosis we can expect changes in the dominance of plant species, decrease of vegetation cover in herb or shrub storeys and decrease of species diversity. Species sensitively reacting on soil changes (nitrification, soil compactness) and high food-attractive species will be excluded from phytocoenosis. Dominance of nitrophilous and ruderal species and food-unattractive species will increase. The dynamics of the forest ecosystem can be affected, too. The speed of natural regeneration process will decrease and repeated destruction of natural seeding will occur."@en .
