At the same time, ecosystems related to floodplains belong to most endangered within re-gions, which are used by man already for centuries. In the region of southern Moravia from Uhersk\u00E9 Hradi\u0161t\u011B along the Morava River to the confluence with the Dyje and along the Dyje River from B\u0159eclav up to the lower parts of the Svratka and Jihlava Rivers, unique floodplain forests of an area of 9700 ha have been preserved to the present time. It is about one third of the total area of floodplain forests in the Czech Republic. The aim of the paper is to propose improved methodology of the retention capacity calculation of flood-plain forest for nitrogen and phosphorus from surface, flood and subsurface waters of the Morava and Dyje Rivers, to work out the economic evaluation of the nutritional retention capacity of floodplain forest.
