"Samec, Pavel" . . "Specific mineral associations were recently found in REE, Sr and Ba rich carbonatites of the South Mongolia. The carbonatites are basically sovite and alvikite, consisting essentially of primary calcite, minor to accesory apatite and hydrothermaly-metasomatic REE-fluor-carbonates, fluorite, barite, celestine and quartz. The textures of examined carbonatites show a recrystallization of magmatic calcite, alteration of apatite, disintegration of burbankite and precipitation of later minerals controled by hydrothermal -- metasomatic alteration. This leads to an evolutionary convergence of carbonatite textures towards those that are normally observed in or associated with hydrothermal carbonate rocks. Locally high degrees of alteration occur along tectonic breccias or high-angle fracture zones that cut through the carbonatites.
