"By means of a light trap the occurrence was determined of 43 butterfly species with manifestations of melanism in the air-polluted area of the D\u011B\u010D\u00EDn Upland (1991-2003). Biston betularius (L.) responded to the decrease of air pollution stress by the gradual remission of the carbonaria form (98.8-84.3%) and Sphinx pinastri (L.) and, thus, the beginning was demonstrated of a revitalization process in the affected air-polluted area. The response of Calliteara pudibunda (L.) appears to be rather delayed. Tethea or (Den. & Schiff.) with the high 81% frequency of melanin forms does not make possible to evaluate the dynamics of changes due to low population density. Odontopera bidentata (Cl.) did not respond to changes in air pollution situation by the decrease of melanism."@en .
