"The study asesses humus conditions of three stands (Norway spruce, beech and mixed) in the central part of the Drahansk\u00E1 vrchovina Upland. Basic characteriustics of forest floor are evaluated in the paper, viz surface humus reserves, pH, carbon and nitrogen content, C/N ratio and the content of dissolved organic carbon. In comparing variants of the forest floor it was found that the highest amount of surface humus was accumulated under the spruce stand (58.1 t.ha-1). It indicates reduced decomposition and mineralization, thus slowed nutrient cycling. The content of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) was highest in L and F horizons in the beech stand (6.30 and 3.52 g.kg-1, respectively) which shows evidence of the sufficiency of substrate available for soil microorganisms but also means higher risk of soil acidification. Thus, we can say that the mixed and beech stand shows positive effects on the condition of forest floor." .
