"The aim of the paper is an analysis of the development of unemployment in the regions of the Czech Republic and assessment of the factors that influence the development of unemployment. The rate of unemployment in the Czech Republic has increased again after a continuous period of decline until the year 2008. However, the development is uneven in individual regions due to the influence of different factors whose impact is reflected in different regions in various extents. The main factors influencing the development of unemployment include the demographic development that determines the level of economic activity of the population, as well the corporate restructuring of the businesses, qualification(s) of the work force in relation to the job vacancies in the labour market and also the business structure that provides job opportunities in the particular region. In comparison with the other member states of the European Union, the Czech Republic belongs to the countries with a lower rate of unemployment than the EU average despite the unfavourable trend since the year 2009."@en .
