"The paper is aimed at the evaluation of competitiveness of countries of the Visegrad Group based on a chosen competitiveness index and quantification of relationships between the competitiveness (represented by the position of a country in a scale according to the selected index of competitiveness) and the inflow of foreign direct investment into the country by means of adequate statistical methods. A specified hypothesis stating that the higher competitiveness of the country and its better competitive position in the ranking, the more attractive is the country in terms of foreign direct investment, has been rejected based on the statistical evaluation of data. When comparing the position of countries in multicriteria scales of competitiveness, such as using the index of global competitiveness, it is necessary to take into account the weight of particular partial indicators, which depends on the group of respective economy (factor-driven, efficiency-driven or innovation-driven type). The transition of a country from one group to another is associated with a certain distortion of the ranking, which is caused by changes in weights. This fact that particular partial indicators can markedly distort the overall competitiveness index ranking is also confirmed by regression analysis carried out in our survey." . . . "1801-7118" .
