However, sands have low retention capacity for water and nutrients, and other materials need to be added to address problems with water deficit. The aim of the trials was to evaluate the effect of selected amendment materials (peat, bentonite, zeolite and Agrisorb) in pot trial with tall fescue. Height, clipping yield of turf, leaves temperature in a period of drought and basic physical characteristics of rootzones were measured. Although the results show higher water and nutrient retention in the amended mixtures compared to sand, plant growth and some physical characteristics were negatively influenced in some cases."@en . . .
