"It is a common knowledge that oxidative stress relates with imbalance between concentration of prooxidants and the antioxidant. Moreover, it appears that these changes are very important in the pathophysiology of critically ill patients. The main aim of this contribution is to study antioxidant activity by using of cyclic voltammetry (CV) at carbon working electrodes. For measuring antioxidant capacity, we utilized carbon paste electrodes, which are easy to prepare. As a part of carbon paste, microparticles of sizes 2-5 mm (expanded carbon and carbon nanoparticles) were used. Acetate and phosphate buffers were tested as the supporting electrolytes. In animal organisms ascorbic and uric acids belong to the important antioxidants. Therefore, these two dominant antioxidants were investigated by using of above-mentioned CV at carbon paste electrodes. For the assessment of antioxidant capacity the sum of the areas of all signals measured in the samples were used. The highest signals were detected in the potential range from +0.5 to +0.8 V. The experimental results were compared with antioxidant capacity measured by Trolox (UV-VIS spectrometry). Changes in antioxidant capacity were observed in patients with medulloblastoma by using of both methods."@en . . "6"^^ .
