"The objective of the work was to assess the effect of the chemical additive based on organic acids on the quality of the fermentation process in model silages prepared of yellow lupin harvested at the stage of wax ripeness and to make a comparison with untreated control silage. The silage preservative was applied at a differentiated dose of 3 and 6 litres per ton of biomass. In the model experiment, the addition of the chemical agent led to a statistically significant (P<0.01) decrease of pH value, amount of acetic acid, titrable acidity, ammonia and the sum of all fermentation acids at a simultaneous extension of the KM:KO ratio. As compared with the control silage, no reduction in the production of ethanol was observed in the experimental model silages. The pH value of experimental silages was significantly lower (P<0.01) than in the control silage.
