"The paper is aimed at analysing the level of destination management in the tourist region of Moravian Karst and its surroundings which is a part of the tourist marketing region of South Moravia. This area manages a great potential for tourism development, whereas at the same time there is not any destination agency that would fulfil a coordination function and would ensure sustainable development of tourism. With the help of a questionnaire survey it has been found out that there are a few independent subjects operating in this area that deal with the development of tourism; however the cooperation among them is at minimum level. In the conclusion of the paper certain measurements have been suggested that should lead to improving the development of tourism in this area relating to the full-value activities of a destination agency which performs destination management functions at the principle of private-public-partnership.
