(DM II) is one of the most frequently occurring serious chronic disorders. The aim was to verify the effect of measures (diet and physical activity) in patients with newly diagnosed DM II who are not treated with diabetic medications. The test group consisted of 4 groups: men 40,0-49,9 y., women 40,0-49,9 y., men 50,0-59,9 let and women 50,0-59,9 y. Three examinations of anthropometrical and biochemical parameters were performed in these patients at the beginning and at the end of the first and sixth month. The measures consisted in a diabetic diet and in walking three times a week in a mildly undulated terrain. In the course of six months, younger women from the test group lost weight, their BMI, waist girth, blood sugar, HbA1c and LDL levels decreased and HDL increased; all in statistically significant levels.
