Changes in basic movement activity are prominent especially at the ankle joint and the affected extremity creates compensatory requirements on the sound ankle (Aruin et al., 1997). The goal of this study is to describe the influence of two specific types of prosthetic feet in terms of ankle joint kinematics of the sound and the affected limb. The observation group comprised 11 subjects with unilateral transtibial amputation. The study targeted the plantar flexion and dorsal flexion values at the ankle joint. Ankle movement during gait is different in a unilateral transtibial amputee at the prosthetic and the sound limb. Gait performance is influenced by a prosthetic foot. The classic foot has smaller movement range when compared with the dynamic type. This is mainly due to reduced dorsal flexion during midstance." . "2"^^ . . .
