"Obesity currently represents a serious health problem in our population. Most of the published studies show that obesity is usually followed by autonomous nervous system (ANS) impairment. The aim of the study was to describe the ANS activity of obese patients. We quantified ANS by non-invasive short-term analysis of the spectral analysis of heart rate variability (SA HRV). The examined group containing 18 obese patients (age 41.8 # 13.4, 9 men and 9 women) had an average Body Mass Index 36,7 (# 5.1). An examination of the resting SAHRV by VariaCardio TF-4 was performed. Results were processed by the new SAHRV evaluation method. From the individual SA HRV complex indexes we chose: Total score(TS), vagal activity (VA), sympatho-vagal balance (SVB) and power total (PT).The values of TS and VA were found below the physiological border (-1.5 to -5) at 11 patients. The values of the other 7 patients were in the physiological range (1.5 to -1.5). Values of SVB at 12 patients as well as TS at 14 patients were"@cs . . .
