The newly developed diagnostic system DTP-2 can perform quick diagnostics without using an x-ray apparatus. A physical principle of the system is the scanning of points (acromions, spinous protuberants, upper back spinas) in space by a pantographic mechanism with accurate rotary encoders. Electrical output from the encoders is preprocessed in an electronic evaluation unit, consisting of microprocessors, and then transmitted into a PC. Special software can calculate the position of the points in Cartesian coordinates as distances from the ideal vertical axis. The position of points can be displayed in a table or on graphs. Both the 2D graph (in the frontal and sagittal planes) and the 3D graph (in perspective projection) are possible. The curvature and deformity of the spine can be evaluated from numerical and graphical output. The measured data and personal data can be stored in" . "Štěpaník, Petr" .
