"Based on 1957 papers which published from 1999 to 2010 in the authoritative journals named Higher Education Research, author analyzes the research methods used in the papers and summarizes the use frequency of these research methods, then get the conclusions as follow: from research methodology point of view, within 12 years among china's three research paradigm speculative research, qualitative research as well as quantitative research, the speculative research overall present an absolute superiority. From the development track point of view, three kinds of research paradigms have relatively smoothed develop trends, the fluctuations presents in a weak downstream of speculative research and a slowly but surely upward of quantitative and qualitative research. From the using of specific research method point of view, the quickly development of interdisciplinary and comparison speculative decreased replaced the advantages of philosophy and feeling speculative situation. In quantitative research, the mathematical statistics, related analysis, and model construction, verification analysis are gradually balance. But the typical experiment research method is few. Depth interviews and nature observation are the main part of qualitative research. The mixing research method is not common in china's higher education research. A single research method using is still the main feature. China's higher education research group tend to professional development is obvious. Among them, the authors with a Doctor Degree background gradually become the main body, and it presents a typical relevancy with the speculative research. The development track of China's higher education research method and the paradigm, on the one hand it closes connection with the speculative characteristics of Chinese culture, and on the other hand it presents the connection with the process of the popularization of China's higher education since 1999."@en .
