Perhaps, both the construction of the graph and subsequent classification is labour. The program %22Triangular Graph%22 would be helpful in the using of this cartographic method. Program %22Triangular Graph%22 is an extension (custom toolbox) for Esri ArcGIS for Desktop created by S. Ganbaatar in 2013. Free download is available. Additionally, this article highlights some difficulties in an utilization of this method. The first difficulty is to describe the phenomenon just by three components. The recommendation is to create a third group named %22others%22 to cover whole phenomenon completely. The next important decision is the selection of division of the equilateral triangle. Author of map can use a symmetrical division or an asymmetrical division of the triangle. An asymmetrical division can respect the average lines to distinguish the similar types. To describe the influence of division of triangle, the article presents two different maps with types of municipalities in the Olomouc Region according to the portion of economic activity of the population in the main sector of the economy in 2012. In the case of symmetrical division, some categories in the legend are not used. However, this division is better in comparing more regions or time comparison. Asymmetrical division of triangle according to the average lines better expresses the similar groups of municipalities. Program %22Triangular Graph%22 offers the optional calculation of %22average lines%22. The last discussed issue is the colour setting for categories. The rules for expressing quality are necessary to follow. The suggestion of combination of solid colour fill and hatch for three minorities in Africa (white, black, Hispanic and others) is also inspiriting.
