"In recent years there has been much debate on the influence of various agricultural systems on soil quality with emphasis on sustainable management. In our research we have focused on various tillage systems and their influence on soil characteristics and on erosion processes. In the first part this deals with the influence of three forms of soil tillage (ploughing, subsoiling and reduced tillage) on selected soil characteristics. From four years of observation it is apparent that various ways of working the soil affected the activity of most soil enzymes and some other soil characteristics. Soil protection technology is also dealt with in the second part of our submission from the point of view of protection against erosion. On the basis of specific example we state that, for effective soil protection, it is essential to propose a combination of anti-erosion measures in which these technologies play only a partial role."@en . .
