Production of superoxide anion, hydrogen peroxide and peroxidase were detected histochemically in infected leaves. High production of superoxide anion was observed mainly in higly susceptible accession L. esculentum cv. Amateur during first hours after inoculation. The production of hydrogen peroxide as well as increase of peroxidase activity was detected in resistant accessions L. chmielewski (LA 2663) and L. hirsutum (LA 2128) at 4-12 hpi. Presence of peroxidase activity was confirmed also in apical part of fungus germ tubes and inside dead conidia. Concentration of hydrogen peroxide, presence of lignin and changes of enzymatic activity of guaiacol peroxidase and catalase were measured.
