The work's theoretical section has summarized the current knowledge of the importance of knowledge workers in today's economy. Significant theories of motivation selected based on their importance for knowledge workers are presented. The concept of national culture is explained as well as how it is possible to recognize cultural differences. Seven living generations are introduced with a particular attention paid to Generation Y.
