"In this paper we have addressed two aspects of virtual team management - the intercultural aspect and the intergenerational aspect. Organizations build virtual teams to involve the best knowledge workers in their projects, regardless of their whereabouts, thus the individual workers often come from different national cultures, which increases the requirements on the intercultural competences of the team leader as well as each team member. Moreover, the team members can be from different generations, which influences their approach to working with modern information and communication technologies. Based on a synthesis of available studies, the aim of the paper is to define the biggest challenges of virtual team management arising from the cultural and generational diversity and to suggest suitable managerial practices for managing heterogeneous teams."@en . .
