. "Medical survival right-censored data of about 850 patients are evaluated to analyze their uncertainty on one hand and compare two basic surgery techniques on the other hand. Colorectal data comes from patients who underwent colectomy in the University Hospital of Ostrava. Two basic surgery techniques are used for the colectomy: either classical (open) or laparoscopic operation. Basic question which arises at the colectomy operation is which type of operation to choose to guarantee longer overall survival time. Two nonparametric methods have been used and compared to answer both problems. First is the nonparametric method which results from Kaplan-Meier estimator of survival function. Uncertainty analysis of the estimator is based on Greenwood's formula. Second is nonparametric predictive inference (NPI). This is relatively new method which uses lower and upper probabilities for quantifying uncertainty. It provides an estimation of predictive survival function instead of the population survival function."@en . "RIV/61989100:27740/12:86084843!RIV13-MSM-27740___" . . "27740" . .
