"Determination of BC (black carbon) was performed by optical method usinh measurements at the wawelenghts 370, 470, 520 ,590, 660, 880 and 950 nm. The principle of measurement is the attenuation of intensity of light beam which is transmitted through silica filter. The filtr continually accumulates the sample of aerosol and attenuation of light intensity is used for calculation of concentration caused by optically absorbing material in the sampled air flow. 36 measurements of %22black carbon - BC%22 were performed on 15th and 16th November 2012, during period of inversion event when maximum concentration of PM10 was around 240 micograms/m3, in the region Karvina was concetration of PM10 in the range 150 - 170 microgram/m3. Anomalies in the map of area distribution of black carbon correspond to the direction of air flowing. The direction of air flow in the region Ostrava and consequently at the territory of the town Ostrava is determined geographically by Moravian Gate which is oriented from South-West to North-East.
