"The utilization of colour parameters CIELab for the fast indication of unburned carbon in fly ashes (which is usually determined by the indirect method - weight loss on ignition) and/or also for determination of other physical parameters (meadian of particle size, specific surface) and chemical parameters (concentration of Fe). The statistically significant relationships were defined between median of particle size and colour parametrs: L*(0.93), a*(0.82) a b*(0.88). It was found that values of paramters: L*,a*,b* increase with decreasing of the size d050. The linear direct proportional relationship was proved between d050 and specficic particle surface. The values of parametrs L*,a*,b* also increase with increasing value of specific surface. The linear dependence can be defined for individual energy sources (D\u011Btmarovice, T\u0159inec) which makes possible the direct expression of unburned carbon. Statistically significant relationships between unburned carbon and colour parametrs L* and a* were proved for the set of 18 power plants and heating boilers.
