"The paper discusses food products certification with quality labels. The aim was to identify and compare consumer attitudes to the quality labels used in the Icelandic and Czech food products market. In the first part of the paper, the product quality and its certification is defined, the second part describes the results of marketing research conducted with the purpose to identify and analyse consumer attitudes. Data was collected using a convenience sample, response rate was 267 questionnaires; 117 from Iceland and 150 from the Czech Republic. Results show that significant differences do exist between Czech and Icelandic respondents in the following factors: country of food product origin preference, awareness of labels, and interest in information regarding food quality labels. Furthermore, statistically significant differences were confirmed between gender of Czech respondents and their responsibility for food purchases as well as their interest in information regarding food quality labels."@en . .
