"The Laboratory for Modelling of Processes in the Liquid and Solid Phases was formed within the frame of solution of the project aimed at establishment of the Regional Materials Science and Technology Centre (RMSTC) at the V\u0160B \u2013 Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering in the Czech Republic. Its activity is devoted to studies of processes mainly related with refining, casting and solidification of steel. The Cooperation with metallurgical companies is based both on the jointly solved projects or and on individual contracts. The high-quality and unique equipment (high-temperature devices: thermal analysis devices, viscometer, software: ProCAST, Thermocalc, Dictra, physical model for modelling of metallurgical processes) is utilized in the applied research activities. The viscosity of different oxidic system was experimentally studied by Anton Paar Rheoplus viscometer and the numerical model for rheological properties of such multicomponent systems is now being developed. Focused on liquidus and solidus temperatures of industrially produced steels, more than 150 measurements on different thermo-analytical devices and methods with different masses of steel samples were done. The obtained results were and are intensively used for optimising the steelmaking processes directly in steel plants and/or as input data for numerical simulations of steel solidification processes. Numerical simulations in development are thus focused mainly on optimisation of production of heavy forging ingots and continuously cast billets. The temperature field in ingot and on the surface of the mould was compared and adjusted on the basis of the plant measurements realized by thermo camera. The thermal capacity of mould material was studied. The porosity and macro segregation phenomena in heavy ingots and in continuously cast billets are studied too."@en . . "P(LO1203), S" . .
